Gentry Hall Conference Room dedicated to memory of Paul Vaughn


A dedicated teacher and administrator at the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources was honored on March 12 with the dedication of the Paul Vaughn Conference Room in Gentry Hall.

The room is designed to keep alive the memory of Vaughn who died in June 2008.

Friends and colleagues from across the nation discussed his career and life accomplishments via an Internet conference during the ceremony.

Vaughn was associate dean and director of academic programs for the college.

Missouri crop projections surprise economists

Missouri farmers are expected to lead the nation with the highest percentage of increase in corn planted during 2009, according to Tuesday’s Prospective Plantings report released by the United States Department of Agriculture.

The expected 3.05 million acres is 9 percent higher than last year’s 2.8 million acres. The USDA projects a nationwide total of 85 million acres, which is down 1 percent from 2008.

Ag J Alum kid celebrates first birthday



Jason Jenkins, Ag J '00, celebrated his son Aiden's first birthday with a Mizzou football theme.

Jenkins currently lives in Jefferson City, MO and is the Field Editor for Rural Missouri magazine.

Facebook - Connecting Friends and Family

Freshman Ag J Major Sami Freeman did a story about how Facebook is bringing people from different generations and different parts of the world together. Freeman wrote this story as a current staff writer for CAFNR Cornerpost, an online news publication ran by students.

Hickman High School Mascot Missourian Story


Kaity Kerwin, junior Ag J major, created this audio slideshow as part of her class at the Missourian.

As Kewpie doll lovers around the world celebrate the Kewpie’s 100th anniversary, Hickman High School students, faculty, and alumni remember the doll as it fits into the school’s history. Hickman students share why they are proud to be Kewpies and how the Kewpie experience has impacted them.

Forestry Student uses recylcables to grow plants


Samuel Garrett McKee, a Forestry senior, is finishing an undergraduate research project that in which he is using recycled glass as the growth medium for tomatoes.

MU Baseball

Senior Ag Journalism student Kyle Spradley had the opportunity to shoot the Mizzou versus SLU baseball game at Busch Stadium. Spradley was granted access to the game because he is currently a photo editor at the Missourian as part of the Photo Desk Management class.
